Remy Rhayam:The Lady of the Waterfall

The Lady of the Waterfall It’s said, “A village is a hive of grass where nothing unobserved can pass”. There is no place better than a village to live in. Jezzine is my native village where I have grown, and I have spent beautiful days with family and friends. It’s the best place where I feel comfortable away from pollution and fuss of Beirut. It’s the heaven on the earth for its people where they find peace, joy, comfort and beauty of its nature. Sunrise and Sunset are special moments in Jezzine. The sun wakes up early in the morning with its golden rays to notify people that a new day begins. Its old houses and cafes keep in mind of people the old days and nights when they have met and have spent unforgettable time together. This village is recognized by its waterfall which is the tallest one in Lebanon and the Middle East, so it’s called “The Lady of the Waterfall”. In addition, Jezzine is famous by the cutlery. There are many old men who still manufacture copper knives, swords, spoons and forks. These craftsmen don’t accept to leave this career because they find it like gold and indispensable wealth. Their crafts are presented to many presidents around the world because they are so precious gifts that are not found everywhere, and they are made with high degree of precision and care. Moreover, the visitors will be satisfied because there are many natural sites to discover where they can find the comfort with the sound of birds. For example, when I feel stressed, I go hiking on nature where I feel relaxed and I forget all my problems and worries. Forests are surrounded by very huge Pine trees where the birds find a good place to build their nests. Second, Jezzine’s mountains are like paintings by reason of each one has a special form. Furthermore, Jezzine contains a lot of restaurants that each one has his own view. They deliver delicious foods that are special for Jezzine. In summer nights, the weather is fantastic. I can go out with friends or with family and contemplate this wonderful town by night. It’s very crowded and especially in the festivals that take place in August every year. These festivals are very famous and known in Lebanon. Young, adults and elderly people come from everywhere to celebrate and see the magnificence of these carnivals. Finally, living in a village is really a priceless wealth. I have discovered that since I come to Beirut to go into the university. Bluntly, I wait impatiently the weekend to return to my village to sit near the window and contemplate the dazzling stars in the sky.
