Amazing Event

Amazing Event Mother Theresa state: “It is not about how much we give but how much love we put into giving” What an amazing day and extraordinary event! 36,006 runners from different backgrounds; wheel chaired, young, adult, and old people. All of them have agreed on a common purpose for that day; running for Lebanon, humanity, unity and peace. I have participated in this event by volunteering with MIDADE an NGO. I was a controller of a refreshment station placed 27 km away from the start line. This experience taught me the importance of being patient and ambitious to achieve goals. The runners were very tired, hungry, thirsty, but sure; none of them gave up the challenge. In reality, two things fascinated me. First, in our station we were distributing energy drinks while the runners were in need for water. We didn’t have water bottles and the water station was placed 3km away, so two Lebanese families volunteered to give the thirsty runners water. Second, there was a blind man running the 42km with his guide. Hewas very persistentto have a good time and he even decided to participate in the Olympics. I was so surprised by his determination to overcome his obstacles and make it to the finish line. Finally, we met Lebanese people who were proud of organizing” the marathon” an amazing event that spread positive emotions and unified the Lebanese a significant landmark in today’s political tough times.
